While the Island Turtle Team waits for its first nest of the 2025 season, it is fun to track the start of the season in our state. As of today nests have been laid at Folly Beach (2 nests), Cape Island, Kiawah Island (2 nests), Huntington Beach State Park and Little Capers Island. A false crawl is when a turtle comes ashore without laying a nest.
On the top of this page is a link to Seaturtle.org which is a central database for all sea turtle activity. At the top click on Resources>Nesting>South Carolina. Then on the SC page you can choose a beach at the top or scroll down to see charts of what has happened each month for nests and false crawls.
