Jenn Gragg and Diane Brumley had just begun their patrol at Station 19 Street when they came upon a classic set of loggerhead tracks and body pit near the lighthouse at Station 18 1/2. This turtle had laid her eggs well above the high tide line in the soft sand but didn't quite crawl up onto the beautiful dune there. There was part of a charred log in the body pit from a beach bonfire which requires a permit on Sullivan's. We had to remove this. Once the top egg was found, the Turtle Team marked the nest and screened it, so it can incubate in situ until near the end of July. (Double click on photo to see whole image)
