It was a rainy day with a double rainbow on the beach, but the pot of gold at its end was a bucket of 88 loggerhead eggs! Kerrie Scott and Pam Bridges, along with Pam's daughter Lily braved the incoming thunderstorm to find tracks at the Sea Cabins just south of the Isle of Palms pier this morning. This nesting loggerhead fell into a hole left on the beach by people but managed to climb out before laying her nest. The Turtle Team was doing an annual program on the beach called Sea Stroll and Learn organized by the Isle of Palms Recreation Center where people walk with us and learn about our work with sea turtle nesting. So the eggs were relocated to a spot just south of 28th Avenue where our walk ended. The adults and children were delighted to see the egg relocation process and genetic sampling as we set up the new nest there.

We hope it made a walk in the rain worthwhile.
