SI Inventories for Nests 13 and 14
Nest 13 was found on July 7 by Karen Bartlett near the Station 25 path, but it was laid too low on the beach. Since it had to be moved anyway, it was relocated to Station 19. There were 117 eggs that incubated for 55 days. Today we found only 36 empty eggshells and 80 undeveloped eggs. These died early in development and will not hatch. There were two dead hatchlings found and Hatch Success was 30.7%.
Nest 14 was laid two days later on July 9 at Fort Moultrie near the Station 13 path. Linda Rumph & Phyllis Nathanson found it, and there were 98 eggs that incubated for 53 days before the hatchlings emerged the same night at Nest 13. This inventory revealed 65 empty eggshells, 32 undeveloped eggs and no hatchlings dead or alive. Hatch Success was 66.3%.
