Nest 9 for SI:

Jessica Hatfield and Lisa Seglem found three sets of loggerhead tracks on Sullivan's Island this morning. Two of them appeared to be false crawls near Station 29 at the north end near Breach Inlet, but the third one was at what seems to be the sweet spot where so many nests are laid this season between Station 26 and Station 26 1/2 a few block away. A man saw her crawling back to the ocean just before the sun rose and reported it to the Turtle Team. We found that she had crawled up onto the primary dune near 2613 Bayonne Avenue and found a good place to lay her eggs. We verified that there were eggs and marked Nest #9 to incubate in situ to hatch in September. Photo of nesting turtle returning to water by BRIAN CONN

Nest 28 for IOP:

Meanwhile on the Isle of Palms Shree Beverly and Penny Gorby found loggerhead tracks in Dewees Inlet near 55 Ocean Point Drive. Amazingly this is the 6th Nest of the 2025 season with Shree's name on it. Seems like every Saturday morning, there is another nest there. These eggs were hard to locate because the sand was very soft with the probe stick sinking in a long way almost everywhere in the body pit. Finally the team found 90 eggs that were relocated to a safer spot near 2802 Palm Blvd. Congratulations Shree and Penny on yet another nest.
