Sullivan's Island Nest #7 July 10

On a stormy morning there were loggerhead tracks mostly washed away up against a steeply eroded dune at the Station 17 path. They were spotted by Chief Anthony Stith's FIre and Rescue crew on Sullivan's Island while Jeremy Anspach patrolled that area. The Turtle Team had to climb down the steep dropoff where it looked like a "boneyard beach" with dead trees on the sand everywhere. The tide is severely eroding that section of beach. The eggs would not have survived long where they were laid up against this steep wall in a dangerous spot. Dogs and people had walked over them as well and rain made them hard to see. We did find 105 eggs and took them to a safe and very different landscape just northeast of the lighthouse at Station 18 1/2 a few blocks away.
